Paint Sub cat 1 - Sub cat 1 PET795(BRU) 10/17 Prop Coat Barnacle Barrier 1792 provides aerosol spray protection to bare metals above or below the waterline. Its smooth, hard surface will self-clean in service and inhibits corrosion on steel, stainless, cast iron, copper, bronze, galvanized and lead. Metal Primer 6455/044 is a two-part, self-etching wash primer for use above or below the waterline on all bare outboards, and underwater running gear. Overcoat with epoxy primer, tie-coat primer, topside enamels, or antifouling paint. Tie Coat Primer 6627 is a general purpose chlorinated rubber primer for use above and below the waterline on metal surfaces or as a tie coat between different types of coatings. When used over Pettit 6455/044 Metal Primer it forms an excellent, easy-to-use system for use on all underwater running gear. Underwater Metal Kit 6456 combines convenient sized containers of both our Metal Primer and Tie Coat Primer in one easy package. This kit is specifically designed for the painting of underwater metal running gear includ- ing shafts, struts, props, thru-hulls, and trim tabs. AlumaProtect 4400/4401 is a two-part epoxy primer for use on sand- blasted aluminum where maximum corrosion resistance to fresh and salt water is required. Usually over coated with Pettit Protect High Build Epoxy 4700/4701 when used on bare aluminum, pontoon hulls and outdrives. UNDERWATER METALS GRAY - 1763 BLACK - 1863 Alumaspray ® Plus is an aerosol antifouling paint specifically designed for use on aluminum outdrives and outboard motors without the need for a barrier coat. Alumaspray Plus offers superior resistance to all types of fouling. Rustlok Steel Primer 6980 is an easy to apply, moisture and corrosion proof primer for use on all cast iron and steel surfaces, including galvanized and stain- less. Its water impervious barrier offers excellent adhesion and corrosion protection even over rusted surfaces. CLEANERS / DEWAXERS STEEL PRIMERS Bio-Blue Hull Surface Prep 92 de-waxes, cleans, and prepares bare fiberglass for painting. Easily removes unwanted contaminants and mold release agents prior to painting. When used with 6998 Skip Sand and antifouling paint, it is part of an easy 1-2-3 system. When used with Bio-Blue Surface Prep 92, this non-sanding system is VOC compliant in all areas. This system does not void hull warranties against osmotic blistering. H2-Prime dries to a hard, durable coating that provides additional protection against scuffing and scratching. Extended over-coating times mean easier scheduling and a lower chance of paint failure due to missed windows. WATER WATER High Aspect Sheet Mica (inpenetrable) Low Aspect Ground Particle Mica What makes Pettit Protect ® different? That would be MICA SHIELD TECHNOLOGY. Aspect Ratio – All premium epoxy primers use Mica to prevent water intrusion. Pettit Protect Mica is incorporated into the epoxy resin while in sheet form, where as other competitors use Mica in a ground form. The differences between the types of mica used in epoxy primers is the ratio of the mica particle length to its width. Pettit Protect uses a high aspect ratio mica whereas other competitors used a low aspect ratio mica. The sheets with high aspect ratio Mica are forced to overlay each other creating an impenetrable layer of epoxy. The issue with low aspect ratio Mica is when rolled out, there is no structure. The Mica isn’t guaranteed to overlap and create the impenetrable layer of epoxy. See diagram at the right. High-Build Epoxy Primers – GRAY 4700/4701 White 4100/4101 - Faster and easier application - Comprehensive gelcoat blister repair and prevention - High-build formula covers in 2 coats vs the competitions 5 or 6 coats - Exclusive Low-VOC formula developed specifically for friendly application WHITE - 4100/4101 GRAY - 4700/4701 Pettit Protect is a heavy duty, two component, epoxy coating for use where maximum resistance to fresh or salt water is required. It reduces water absorption making it an excellent choice for osmotic blister prevention and repair. Its high-solids formula allows for quicker and easier application with fewer coats necessary for effective protection. It also offers dependable corrosion protection on all underwater metals.
